2009 marks the historical 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease at St. James's Gate by Arthur Guinness in 1759 and GUINNESS 250 celebrations will peak on ‘Arthur's Day' 24th September 2009. Celebrating 250 years, this remarkable day will honour Arthur Guinness whose legacy gave us GUINNESS beer. ‘Arthur's Day' will see a series of events take place around the world to celebrate this remarkable milestone in the life of a remarkable brand.
The largest celebration will take place in Dublin, the home of GUINNESS, where thousands of people will come together to experience live music events in over 30 venues across the city, from intimate gigs in pubs to music venues and even a concert at the St. James's Gate brewery itself.
On September 24th GUINNESS STOREHOUSE will play a central role in the Arthur's Day celebrations in Dublin, acting as a hub for the hundreds of international media who will be in attendance and as the location for the vibrant after show event for invited guests. As a result, GUINNESS STOREHOUSE will be closed to the public on September 24th. Following Arthur's Day, the Storehouse will open to the public again at 9.30am September 25th.
