GUINNESS STOREHOUSE ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE

Everyone is welcome at Guinness Storehouse, and we want to make sure you have an enjoyable, memorable, and safe experience with us at the home of Guinness.

This guide was developed to help all our visitors get the most out of their visit; we hope that you find it helpful. There is a drop-off area available in front of the main entrance on Market Street.

If you are travelling by car or minibus, please drive to the Crane Street Car Park where a number of accessible parking spaces are available close to the entrance.

Our accessible entrance is located on Market Street. Visitors will need to push the call button to gain access and then follow internal signs to the lift and ticket desks.

If you have already booked your tickets online, our team are ready to check you in with handheld scanners at the admissions lobby.

Carers are entitled to complimentary admission for the Guinness Storehouse Experience (self-guided tour), limited to one carer per person. While the care assistant is granted access exclusively to the self-guided tour, they are more than welcome to accompany the care recipient to our other experiences, including STOUTie, Guinness Academy, and Connoisseur Experience.

If you’d prefer to schedule a visit during one of our quieter times, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10am and 12 noon are generally less busy with easier access to lifts and facilities. Or, you could visit during one of our Sensory Friendly mornings, which is detailed in the next section below.

Weekends, particularly in the afternoon, can be quite busy at Guinness Storehouse and may not be suitable for those who are sensitive to noise. 

It’s always best to book online to get the best prices and to ensure that you get the time slots that work best for you.

The Guinness Storehouse is proud to be accredited by Ireland’s national autism charity, AsIAm, as a certified autism-friendly attraction. Our staff has been trained on how to best cater to customers with autism or other neurodivergence, and we offer sensory kits including earplugs at our reception area, along with Sensory Maps and a visual guide to the building.

Please note that weekends, particularly in the afternoons, can be quite busy at Guinness Storehouse and may not be the best environment for those with autism or other neurodivergence. 

However, we offer Sensory Friendly Hours once a month for our three standard experiences. On the first Wednesday of every month, from 9am to 12pm (subject to change) the building is adapted with reduced noise and lighting, and sensory hotspots marked.

We want to make sure that all our visitors can have a fulfilling experience at the Guinness Storehouse.

• Learn how to pour like a professional! At the Guinness Academy, we have an accessible tap to ensure you can pull your own pint if you upgrade your tour ticket to include this experience.
• All our restaurants and bars are accessible with specially adapted counters.
• Shop at our Guinness Store where we have wide aisles and adapted counters for your convenience.
• Ramps and/or lifts allow all visitors to access every aspect of the Guinness experience. All our lifts are fitted with accessible buttons. Check below for lift dimensions.
• Mobility wheelchairs are available free of charge from the Information Desk (subject to availability)
• Guide dogs, assistance dogs, or working dogs in training are welcome at Guinness Storehouse.
• On the first Wednesday of every month, we will have specific sensory-friendly tours for autistic people and their families/friends. This will include noise and light reduction across the experiences. These will be clearly marked as ‘sensory-friendly’ when you are booking your ticket but the full list of dates is above.
• During the designated sensory-friendly tours/hours, additional signage will be placed around the building, marking high sensory areas.
• The Guinness Storehouse is a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard programme. Staff have been trained to know that someone wearing a sunflower lanyard may need extra help, understanding, or just more time.
• Experience your self-guided tour with ease. Handheld text, audio and international sign language guide devices are available for free at the Audio Guides Desk on the ground floor.
• You can also avail of our sensory kits along with visual guides of the buildings and sensory maps. This can be downloaded above.
• If you are visually impaired, please email info@guinnessstorehouse.com ahead of your visit so we can arrange a guide for your visit.

The Guinness Storehouse has three call points on each floor should you require assistance. Once you press these buttons – located on each floor at the three emergency stairwells – a member of our security team will respond to your call and come to your assistance.

Flickering or flashing lights are in use throughout the Guinness Storehouse which could be harmful to individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. However, the visit does not contain any strobe lighting.

There are accessible lifts (or ramps) to bring you to each floor of the experience. Please note the lift dimensions.

Lower Ground to Ground: 1.4m x 1m

Panoramic Lifts: 2.2m x 1.1m

Visitor Experience: 1.5m x 1.1m

Passenger lift on the concourse: 2.4m x 1.1m

The First Aid Room is located on the ground floor. If you require first aid assistance, please alert any member of staff as the Guinness Storehouse always has sufficient trained personnel on site.

The Guinness Storehouse has teamed up with Mobility Mojo to assess our accessibility and we are delighted to have achieved the gold standard rating.

All emergency exits are clearly marked throughout the Guinness Storehouse.

Emergency announcements will be made throughout the building to advise you on what you should do.

Do not use the lift.

Follow the instructions of the Guinness Storehouse personnel and go directly to your nearest stairwell.

If mobility allows, descend the stairs to the emergency exit route.

If you are unable to descend the stairs, wait in the stairwell and the fire marshal for that floor will come to your aid.

To ensure your safety at all times, you may be asked to divide your party into smaller groups if you have a large number of wheelchair users. This could result in a delay before you can access some parts of the building.

Also, for health and safety reasons, there is also a limit of four (two in each bar space) on the number of wheelchair users who can access the Gravity Bar at any one time.
