Date night in Dublin: Why the Guinness Storehouse should be on your list

We know what you're thinking. A Dublin brewery tour might not seem like the most romantic of date ideas… but hear us out.

The Guinness Storehouse is one of Dublin’s top attractions because we’ve worked hard to ensure that it’s more than just a tour. Seven floors of interactive atmosphere, nostalgia, history, and science, with multiple options to eat, and then the best view in the city as the sun sets over the city? It might just be the best date of your life…

Here's how to woo your person in style at the Storehouse:

Make it special

To make an evening of it, upgrade your tickets to the Connoisseur Experience. This takes you away from the self-guided floors and into a private tasting session, where you’ll sample different varieties of Guinness, learning about what makes each one distinct and appreciating the nuances of flavour in each. You’ll be guided by an expert during this intimate, unhurried, experience, and it’s an added touch that feels more like an occasion than “just a tour”.

Get a STOUTie

Add a STOUTie to your visit. Our STOUTie machines can print your selfie onto the creamy head of a freshly poured pint, in astonishing, accurate, edible detail. It’s a fun and lovely thing to do with a date, and it will leave you with a great memory long after the pint has been drunk. Don’t forget to take photos of the pint before you drink yourselves!

The Gravity Bar at sunset

Time your visit right, and you’ll end up in the Gravity Bar as the sun starts to go down over the city… and what a place to be for that golden hour glow. The panoramic views from 150 feet up: the Liffey, the Liberties, the Dublin mountains catching the last of the light – it’s all spectacular at any time of day, but in the evening it’s something else. Find a good spot to bask in the glow of a Dublin evening, rooftop-watching, together.

Grab a bite

We have two acclaimed restaurants where you can have a sit-down dinner, right on site. Our chefs at 1837 Bar & Brasserie and Arthurs Bar have put together some beautiful, Guinness infused dishes that draw on the best of Irish produce. You can even try the famous Guinness and oyster combo here – a great date night dish given their aphrodisiacal reputation! If you feel like having a full Guinness experience, right down to the dinner, why not book a table in advance and incorporate a dinner date into your evening?

If you feel like venturing out from our gates, Thomas Street is right on your doorstep, and it has everything you need for the rest of the evening. For a special occasion, try Variety Jones. The Michelin-starred restaurant is a short walk away and is one of the finest tables in Dublin (but you’ll need to book well in advance to get a spot). Just a ten-minute walk further, and you’ll be right in the heart of the city centre with endless options of food, cocktails, or a pint of Guinness.

End the night right

If you want to keep going, you don't even need to go very far. Arthur's Jazz and Blues Club on James's Street, right beside us, is one of Dublin’s hidden gems. The pub hosts live jazz and blues five nights a week in a shmoozey, atmospheric, candlelit room above one of Dublin's most historic pubs. It’s low key and romantic, a perfect way to wind down a perfect date night in Dublin.
